Day 1 - Wednesday 12 September 2007 Hampstead Theatre
Thank God It's Friday
by Amy Rosenthal and Cosh Omar
directed by Noah Birksted-Breen
cast: Emma Cunniffe, Michael Higgs, David Horovitch, Jonathan McGuinness, Joseph Millson, Lisa Stevenson, Susannah Wise
Single Jewish Rachel is a history teacher who despairs of her widowed father's relentless attempts to find her a match. Muslim Rockabilly Zeki is a fanatical 1950s fan who is beginning to feel increasingly isolated. When these two North Londoners meet and share the only pork-free dish at a dinner, we begin to ask ourselves if these two outsiders have more in common with each other than we might have imagined.
Two writers from different backgrounds with strikingly different religious and political views, Amy Rosenthal (Sitting Pretty Watford Palace Theatre/New York)and Cosh Omar (The Battle of Green Lanes, Theatre Royal Stratford East) fortunately have two things in common, their prodigious writing talent and their uproarious sense of comic timing. Expect an extremely engaging and charged evening.
