Huge thank you to Justine from the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre for sending me fantastic images of Joseph. Taken by Robert Day, they show scenes from rehearsals and the show. They will be added to the galleries later. This image is of Joseph and Louse Jameson.
Lorna found another review by the Birmingham Mail...well a semi review as it was from the abandoned opening night.
REVIEWS: Sodden in the Danish state
Mail (Birmingham); Jun 28, 2008; JUSTINE HALIFAX; p. 17
FOR the first time in an 18 year history, heavy rain stopped the play on the first night of the open air Stafford Festival Shakespeare.A professional cast battled on for an hour and a half against the backdrop of Stafford Castle before producer Derrick Gask was forced to call a halt to proceedings.
After stepping onto a soaked stage, Mr Gask said: "Unfortunatley I have had to make the uncomfortable decision to pull the show for the first time in an 18 year history."But despite Hamlet's premature curtain call, an hour before schedule, it looked set to be yet another triumph for this talented team.Praise should go to Joseph Millson who was proving to be an outstanding Hamlet.
But all is not lost. Like the rest of the audience, I will be able to return to see this Shakespearean classic reach its climax, and I can't wait.
The play runs until July 12.
VERDICT: * *****
Joseph at Stafford Castle in Hamlet
Absolutely amazing. Surprising changes of character. Wonderful clips of humour. Outstanding.
I have to agree with your
I have to agree with your thoughts. I saw it this afternoon and I was completely entranced, and so were all my theatre companions for the whole play.
