Indie London reviewed the Talk To Me DVD...
As well as being highly entertaining – I might even go so far as to say compulsive viewing – Talk To Me has a very clear message and the clue is in the title.
Claire, disillusioned with a long-term relationship devoid of excitement (though to give her her due, she does try to rekindle the spark by tempting Woody in the back of a taxi and, following their unceremonious expulsion, in an alleyway), turns to another man – instead of talking it through with her husband. A familiar story and particularly ironic here as it’s Mitch who encourages listeners to “Talk to me” with their problems.
But if you think Mitch comes out of this unscathed, you’d be wrong. He does, however, take responsibility for his actions and in a moving farewell speech, live on air, gives Woody food for thought and ultimately, Claire reason to “hope”. An unexpected but welcome finale.Well acted and well filmed, Talk To Me is definitely one to watch.
I found a couple of reviews today. Firstly from Eye for Film who enjoyed the Talk To Me DVD.
"The cast are all fantastic...Millson is an actor I’m not to familiar with but he does a great job as Woody especially during the scenes where he learns of his wife’s betrayal with his best friend. Each character is well fleshed out and is given time to cement individually there own story arcs. Talk To Me was great viewing, fast-paced, intriguing, funny, and sexy and had me gripped throughout. A welcome surprising change from a group of people to watch out for in the future."
I wasnt going to add any more publicity that contained the same pics but this one, from this weeks TV Times, needed to be scanned, just because of what the blurb said:
"Joseph Millson as Woody is fabulous as he discovers the affair between his best mate and his wife."
The broadsheet reviews this morning were mixed about last nights programme.
Cant believe the Guardian columnist watched the same programme I did! The Telegraph liked it better and the Times was seduced as I was!
"But it just seduces you, as ruthlessly as Mitch beds his ladies. Millson has the perfect puppy-dog eyes waiting to be betrayed. Scott is creating a daft website which sees squirrels stuck on top of the world’s most iconic buildings. When an angry Ally goes to graffiti a billboard of Mitch, she’s arrested halfway through the act so it reads “Shith”, rather than “S***head”.
We know that there will be regret and recriminations, and the odd punch thrown. The climax has to be an on-air mea culpa from bad boy Mitch. But who cares? Dearbhla Walsh’s sensuous direction means every interior looks divine, every argument is punctuated by thick, gloopy rain. You can feel the crisp chill of a glass of white. As the seductive soft-rock soundtrack plays over each trembling cheek and broken heart, you just sit there, pressing pause. Panelled leather headboards: lovely."
Todays Observer has tonight's Talk To Me as pick of the day with a great preview.

TALK TO ME
ITV1, 9.30PM
W ell done to ITV, who after facing severe criticism earlier on in the year have been slowly overhauling their drama department. Gone (for the most part) are those overwrought star vehicles featuring Sarah Lancashire or Martin Kemp becoming slowly entangled in some improbable murder plot or other. Instead, recent offerings, while not always groundbreaking, have been sharp, savvy and, most importantly, involving.
