Telstar (2008)

Genre

Film of the stage play of the same name, written and directed by Nick Moran. Filming will be in London, for 6 weeks, starting July 9th 2007.

Synopsis

A darkly comic biopic of the life of legendary 60's record producer Joe Meek. Recording in a twelve-foot square front room and mixing tracks in the kitchen, the now legendary Joe Meek produced three of the biggest selling records of the early 60s: ‘Johnny Remember Me’, ‘Have I the Right’ and of course ‘TELSTAR’.

This fast, funny and ultimately tragic black comedy takes us back to the wild times of Meek’s momentous recording sessions, his spiraling career, and his relationships with those closest to him: his band – a ramshackle bunch of local youngsters; his unrequited love for his one-hit-wonder protégé Heinz ; his fateful alliance with landlady Violet Shenton; and his crazy business partnership with Screaming Lord Sutch.
