Fear and Misery reviews

TS from the forum found this review in the Guardian Blogs today from last night's performance of Fear and Misery at the Royal Court.

"Fear and Misery is sharply acted, particularly by Joseph Millson as a paranoid city-type who keeps peremptorily demanding reassurance ("Cuddles!") from his wife."

An excellent performance by Joseph!

I was at the same performance as this critic last night and agree that Joseph was excellent. The play really tapped into the fears of modern parents for their children and the desire to protect them from the horrors of life. I loved the way that Fear and Misery blended seamlessly into War and Peace with the soldier being the link.

Well Joseph's performance

Well Joseph's performance had me totally convinced that he was a self obsessed, sex obsessed, foul mouthed, needy, immature man with OCD tendencies...mesmerising ;)

I do love how by following Joseph's career we are seeing plays that we would otherwise only have read about in the review section of the papers.

I loved sitting on the floor and the intimacy of a small space whilst we eavesdropped on the paranoias of a couple, and the little touches - the real pasta, the preemptory demands (cuddles) the slight twitches. There was no room for errors last night and I thought the whole cast delivered - the audience was only a few feet away and they must have been aware of every rustle and sigh.

And I have to admit we have a smoke alarm system linked to mains power so we never have to change the batteries.
