Joseph Millson, who set hearts a-fluttering as a hunky medic in Peak Practice before cropping up in EastEnders, is about to tread the boards in King John.

The play will run from July to October as part of the RSC's Complete Works of Shakespeare season.

The 32-year-old actor shot to fame as Dr Sam Morgan in the rural medical drama during a two-year stint with the show between 1999 and 2001.

A year later, he made a guest appearance in Holby City.

But many soap fans will remember Millson best for his devilishly charming portrayal of Jason in EastEnders in 2002.

The character was Lynne Slater's former fiancee who broke her heart when he stood her up at the altar before she and her clan moved to Walford.

However, he re-entered her life in 2002 and the pair had a torrid affair behind the back of Lynne's hapless husband Garry.

He wanted her to dump her other half and make a fresh go of things with him, but at the last minute, she decided her future lay in Albert Square after all.

King John isn't Millson's only forthcoming work - he'll soon be seen alongside Daniel Craig in new Bond movie Casino Royale.
